Do i need to change my contents insurance.?

Resolved Question

Do i need to change my contents insurance.?

I own my own flat which i rent out to a couple of tenants. I lost my handbag yesterday and called my insurance to discuss making a claim, they asked if there were people in the property not on my policy, i told them two tenants. he then said he would need to speak to the underwriters and would come back to me. I was probably niave to think i wouldnt need to change my policy, as it is still all my posessions in the property, or was i, does anyone have any advice, might it be that my policy is void now? ps, my policy is with MORE THAN

thanks

It is very possible that they will refuse your claim as you have not declared a material change to the policy. Having lodgers (I assume that they live with you) does change things as it means there are other people with access to your things.

You will have to wait and see what they say I'm afraid.

  • Your policy could well be declared void. You will be very lucky if this claim is met. Under the terms and conditions of your policy you are required to tell the insurer about these things.
