What is the punishment for no licience and no insurance in UK?

Resolved Question

What is the punishment for no licience and no insurance in UK?

arested by police under alleged driving dangerously with no licience or insurance. Have to appear in Juvinile Court. No previous convictions. Good track record. But above all I was NOT driving. There were 3 of us in the car. The owner of the car was driving but fled at scene. What will happen as outcome?

just plead NOT guilty, despite what they might tell you it IS up to them to prove who was driving, and if it wasn't you you shouldn't have much problem

even if you did it, the most likely outcome these days in the UK would be a fine and points on your license (I know you don't have one, but they'll stick points on it anyway)

  • 1) If you were not driving then did you tell the Police that on interview?

    2) Did you tell the Police who was driving?

    3) If the answer to the above is yes, then why are you going to Court? After all the Police want to prosecute the driver not some innocent passenger.

    4) The Police need evidence to show you were the driver. Contrary to all the anti-Police trolls on here I can tell you that the Police don't just charge people for the hell of it. What is it you have forgotten to tell us?

    5) If you are genuinely totally innocent then you need to plead not guilty, stand in Court and say that under oath that you were not the driver and tell the Court who was the driver.

    6) Don't give me any cr@p about grassing on a mate. If your mate was a true mate they would not have run off and left you to carry the can!
Even if he ran off, not realising he was dropping you in it then he has now had time to think things over. he now knows that he has dropped you it it. If he were a true friend then he would have the bottle to come forward and admit being the driver. He has had time to do the right thing by his mate!

    7) What will happen. If you get convicted you will be banned from driving, so you will not be able to get a licence as soon as you would otherwise be able to. You will get a heavy fine. You will get points when you do eventually get a licence. You will have previous convictions and can't claim to have a clean track record ever again.

You are at a cross roads in your life. One route takes you down the road of becoming a criminal and a loser.
The other road takes you down the road of honesty, integrity and becoming and achiever instead of a loser.
    Decision time!

Whatever the true story is, you need to grow up and tell the truth to the Court.
  • If you are under 18 and were not driving you may get off with a verbal cautioning depending on your clean past record. Write a letter of apology to the court (make sure handwriting and spelling are good). You could get an ASBO or be tagged, state that you are working (if you are, if not say nout) and things should go OK for you. Wear clean smart clothes to court. Courts are reluctant to give criminal records to first time offenders. Good Luck.
  • Get ready to spend a few months in a very small cell with a very fat and ugly woman who will call you her baby and keep you warm at night.

I am feed up with people getting into cars and driving around like fools then coming on here and crying about it when they get busted.

If you had killed a child while driving around whilst having fun, would they get a chance to come on here and say how unfair life is..??

    Grow up.!!

You did the crime now do the time.!!
  • Car will be crushed. If driver not identified, you could theoretically be charged with obstruction, but not likely, as police should be able to find registered owner, who HAS to identify driver or be charged himself.
  • It is normally fined, plus the cost of the months of road tax you did not pay, plus you will have to pay next years road tax and years insurance, to get back on the road.

  • 40 lashes with the Cat O' 9 tails or no mobile phone for a month. With, possibly running lessons for you, so next time you can get away quicker
  • He will lose his license for 1-3 years. and good. you should all get not much - he was driving. his fault. Just make sure you sound sorry.
  • 3 months sentence, this happened to my mate christmas time. you be out in around 6 weeks though.
