I have just renewed my house contents Insurance and nowhere does it ask if you have a dog.
Dogs do not come into it, as long as you have a crime reference number and you did not leave your doors unlocked they will pay up.

- Make a claim regardless of your dog. The insurance company won't be bothered if you have a dog or not, or whether your dog is fierce or friendly. Of course they will want confirmation from the police that the burglar was reported to them promptly, so make sure you have a crime number to refer to. If you're not lying then you should have nothing to worry about - though there will probably be a bunch of police and insurance forms to fill out.0% 0 Votes
- The insurance companies here in the UK are the biggest crooks around , if your cooker blew up taking off both your legs their attitude would be - you done that on purpose so you can get a new cooker didn't you ! , so f*ck em claim on your insurance .
Why even tell them about the dog ? they wouldn't give you a discount if you kept 6 lions in your kitchen so why should you lose out because you have a pet ?0% 0 Votes - File the claim. If the insurance company thinks you are scamming them they can have a police investigation. And your tax money will help pay for it. The fact that you own a big dog shouldn't matter but you don't have to tell them you own it. The dog is so much a family member you might forget. I hope you filed a police report. Good luck0% 0 Votes
- Surely you have some record of this with the police and if you're not lying you have nothing to worry about otherwise why the hell are you paying insurance?0% 0 Votes
- Report it. You having a dog has nothing to do with being robbed.
Had the dog bit someone that would be another story.
You will be asked to supply receipts for the items you claim or at least photos0% 0 Votes - Your dog will not cause your insurance co. not to pay heck they probably don't know of your dog also the topic shouldn't even come up. sorry for your loss.good luck0% 0 Votes
- how can the insurance company say you are lying if you called teh police and had a police report made up.
You did call the police didn't you? if you didn't call them and more than a couple of days has gone by, then you are probably out fo luck all the way around. the sooner you report a burglary, the better chance the police have of finding the crooks and recovering your property.
If you lost a lot of property, then that's what insurance is for, replacing that property - stop worrying about if the premium is going to go up - if you were so worried about that, why did you bother getting insurance if you don't plan on using it when you need it?
dog has nothing to do with anything0% 0 Votes - I would suggest that you put the claim in. I can't say for sure because every state and province have different insurance laws. But read the following and use your best judgement
If you knowingly lied when asked about something on the insurance application that could void your policy (not will void, could void). And lying on a contract is fraud which could lead to a police investigation. Never lie to get insurance. What's the point in paying for coverage that is going to be voided when you need it most?
But I doubt that the dog is material to your claim. And I doubt that an Alaskan Malamute is a problem; even if the insurance company does not accept risks with certain types of aggressive dogs.
One final thought before claiming: is the total loss higher than your deductible? If so, put the claim in. Otherwise there is no point
I really hope that helps.
PS I prefer to think of an Alaskan Malamute as a big cute dog!Source(s):
